Health policy advisors serving US Senators visited MU-JHU on 20th August 2019. This was part of a trip hosted by IAVI and GHTC to help them gain insights into the impact and importance of US investments in research in Africa. Colleagues from USAID and CDC also joined us. The visit was engaging and interactive including testimonies from eloquent former research participants and the YGA Chairperson as well as small group discussions rotating thorough stations with a focus on eMTCT, HIV prevention methods for women and the role of community engagement and the CAB throughout the research cycle. The senators represented included: Senator Rob Portman of Ohio, Senator Cindy Hyde Smith of Mississipi, Senator Ben Cardin of Maryland, Senator Chris Coons of Delaware, Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Senator.
